The Swancreek Township Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining approximately 46 miles of township roads and overseeing the care of five local cemeteries. Our goal is to provide safe, well-maintained infrastructure that supports quality of life for all residents.

Not all roads within the Township fall under our jurisdiction. To view which roads are maintained by Swancreek Township, download the list below. Roads not included are maintained by Fulton County.
Maintenance, Road Work, and Road Closure Updates
DECEASED ANIMALS ON ROADWAYS
Please note that Swancreek Township does not remove small deceased animals from roadways. Exceptions may be made for larger animals such as deer. For concerns regarding animal removal, call the Township Office.
DRIVEWAY PERMITS
Effective immediately: All driveway permits for new construction or modifications to existing driveways must now be obtained through Fulton County.
Key changes:
- Permits will be issued exclusively by the County.
- The new County form must be used; Township-issued forms are no longer valid.
- Completed forms must be submitted to the County for approval. Once approved, the County will forward the documentation to Swancreek Township for record-keeping.

DRAINAGE: TILES, CATCH BASINS, AND DITCHES
Under Ohio Revised Code, Swancreek Township is authorized to maintain drainage related to water runoff from township-maintained roads. Our Maintenance Department works diligently to:
- Clear and maintain roadside ditches
- Service drainage tiles and catch basins
- Ensure proper water flow along public right-of-way

MAILBOX REPLACEMENT
Swancreek Township will only replace mailboxes that are physically struck by a snowplow vehicle during snow removal. Damage caused by snow accumulation or forceful snow discharge does not qualify for replacement.
RIGHT OF WAY INFORMATION
Every public road has a designated right-of-way (ROW), typically ranging from 40 to 60 feet wide. This ROW is owned by the road’s maintaining entity (Township or County) and allows:
- Access for drainage work
- Placement of utility lines and infrastructure
