Fulton County Road 2 Construction Begins July 28, 2025

Swancreek Township has been informed by the Fulton County Engineer’s Office that construction on County Road 2, between Road D and Road E, is expected to begin the week of July 28, 2025. This phase of the project will involve full-depth reclamation, which rebuilds the road base to extend the life of the pavement.

What Is Reclamation?

Reclamation is a process that pulverizes the existing asphalt and base, mixes in stabilizing materials, and compacts the mixture to form a new foundation. A new layer of asphalt is then applied. This technique improves the road’s structure and durability.

  • All work is subject to change based on contractor schedules and weather conditions.

What does reclamation mean for County Road 2 between D and E. Basically can you tell me what they are doing exactly?

    Thank you for your question.

Reclamation, in this case, refers to a reconstruction process for County Road 2 between Roads D and E. This involves grinding up the existing roadway surface and base material, mixing it with stabilizing agents (like cement or asphalt emulsion), and then compacting it to form a stronger, more stable foundation. A new layer of asphalt will then be applied over the top.

This method extends the lifespan of the road, improves driving conditions, and is more cost-effective and environmentally friendly than complete removal and replacement.
